Everything is booked for our family trip to Iceland for Spring Break 2023!
This time, we'll be staying in one location – on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula with a view of Kirkjufell – for all but the last night of the trip with the idea of really relaxing, taking it easy and keeping our fingers crossed for a chance to see the aurora borealis.
Day 1: Overnight flight direct to KEF (+6 hour time change).
Day 2: Customs. Pick up rental car. Drive to grocery store; stock-up. Drive to Grundarfjörður. Check in to Hellnafell Guesthouse; settle in.
Days 3-7: Explore Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Relax at Guesthouse. Check aurora borealis forecast each night.
Day 8: Check out of Hellnafell Guesthouse. Drive to Reykjavik. Check in to Old Charm Reykjavik Apartment. Explore Reykjavik or possible trip to Fagradalsfjall Volcano.
Day 9: Explore Reykjavik. Check out of Old Charm Reykjavik Apartment. Return rental car. Head to airport for direct flight to ORD (-6 hours time change).
