John and I loved Iceland so much that we want to return with the kids – but, for a much different type of trip.
Instead of traveling around the whole country in a campervan, we're going to stay put in one spot at a rental house and thoroughly explore that area with a rental 4x4 SUV.
And, this time, it'll be over Spring Break so nearly the opposite time of year from our visit in August. But, traveling in March means we'll have a chance at seeing the Aurora Borealis!
With it still being the tail end of winter in Iceland, and us feeling a little apprehensive about the driving conditions with any snow or ice in the wind we experienced there, we don't want to have too far to drive from the airport.
So, we chose the Snæfellsnes Peninsula as the spot. There was so much to see there and we'd love to explore it more and experience it with the kids.
Is this really happening?!? Well, the past if couple years have taught us anything, it's: Who knows what'll happen between now and then. But, yesterday we booked the rental house and the rental car (both fully refundable until we are much closer to the date). So... *fingers crossed*!
