2021 Minnesota RV Trip: Day 6

June 10

at Jay Cooke State Park

We were happy to have another day at Jay Cooke State Park, since it was our favorite spot of the trip, so far. But, we were exceptionally bummed to see that even Lake Superior wasn't gonna save us from the heat wave today. The forecast called for temps in the 90s again – even where we were.

We headed out for our 1.8 mile hike early to try to beat the heat. It was gorgeous.

After a short rest and lunch back at the RV, we thought we'd try for a little more time by the river. I, especially, loved this place. Something about this river really called to me. Truly. Almost instantly, upon seeing it for the first time, I envisioned myself living along this river's edge for the rest of my days.

But, even I could only sit there dripping sweat for so long before I wanted to head back to the RV and the AC.

That night, we decided we'd had enough. We had to call it. The trip home was planned to be broken into two days with a few stops to keep it interesting along the way. John said he felt like he could handle the drive if we just pushed though, skipped the stops, and got home in one day.

So, this is our last night of the trip. We'll wake up early tomorrow and drive straight through to home.
