Day at Sea; Cruise Day 2
Fun Day at Sea |
Even though the kids were up late, my arts-and-crafts-loving daughter wanted to get up early to go to the "Make It With Michaels" activity at 8:30a. This was the only morning we opted to have breakfast delivered by room service. It arrived on time and our order was correct but we found eating in the room to be more of a hassle than heading down to the buffet.
The "Make It With Michaels" description did not say what the craft would be. It turned out to just be making a card by taking note cards and using stamps, paper scraps, gems, and markers to decorate. There was a table with supplies and everyone did there own thing.
Again, I felt this was a tad disappointing as an activity.

My husband and son did the "Carnival Tower" (aka: giant Jenga) activity later in the morning. They said that was fun. We also had some more time at the pool and water slides but it was super crowded. And we played another round of mini golf with less wind.

One of the best things about the cruise, for me, was unplugging and being disconnected from social media and emails and newsfeeds. We didn't use our phones at all for most of the cruise. But, my husband did use the app to check on weather, activities, and the ship map from time-to-time.

This was the formal dinner night. We opted not to bother with bringing formal clothes and instead planned to eat at the buffet.
Some notes on dining aboard Ecstasy:
If I am being honest, the food was plentiful but mediocre, at best. To be fair, buffet food has never been very appetizing to me. But even the sweets station was mostly disappointing. The tastes of the desserts often didn’t match the descriptions. Even the kids didn't think they were very good. They loved the serve yourself soft serve ice cream and frozen yogurt, though.
The pizza was the worst pizza I've ever had in my entire life. It was barely edible. I'd suggest not setting yourself up to be hungry when that is the only food station open.
Eating in the dining room allowed for some of us to try new, more adventurous foods, like frog legs and rabbit, which was fun.
But, the only food I actually, truly enjoyed was from Guy’s Burger Joint. The burgers were delicious and the toppings bar allowed for building your ideal burger. The seasoned fries were good, too.
After dinner, we picked our evening activities. When my daughters saw the words "dance party" in the Camp Oecan schedule, they were all over it. My son wanted none of that, so we checked out the PG comedy shows with him while the girls danced.

The girls had a great time at the dance party and didn't want to leave! I convinced them to take a break after the first comic for all of us to go have a family portrait taken. There were always so many backdrop portrait stations each evening and I couldn't pass up the chance.

The girls spent the rest of the evening at their dance party and my husband, son, and I saw the second PG comedian of he night, Geechy Guy, who had us cracking up.
