Travel from Chicago, Illinois to Jacksonville, Florida
We were up before the sun, to the airport, through security, and aboard the plane for take-off at 6:55 in the morning.

It was a smaller plane – an E75 which seat two by two – and, well, the smaller the aircraft the more miserable I am.
Fortunately, a dose of Dramamine before boarding kept me from vomiting (which I have done in-flight before and it is absolutely mortifying) but, unfortunately, we had “unexpected turbulence” nearly the entire flight. I felt so sick, my anxiety skyrocketed, and my one daughter – who has a slight fear of flying – was terrified most of the flight.
Not an ideal start to our family vacation.
But, we landed safely and gratefully made our way to our hotel for the night.
Dramamine makes me groggy for several hours, so I was pretty much done for the day. John took the kids to the hotel pool while I slept it off. Later, we walked a couple blocks to dinner, and back. Then it was time for showers and settling in as the sun set on our first day of the trip.
