We have just started toying with the idea of taking a trip to the San Francisco area next summer. We have family out that way which we are fortunate enough to have come visit us about every couple years. However, my husband hasn't been there to visit in about 18 years and I have never been to California (outside of LAX). We were planning on visiting them if we get to make that Epic Western Road Trip in 2023, but that seems like such a long way off – by then our kids will be teenagers and their kids will be in college! Our kids absolutely adore them all (as do we) and we are feeling like the sooner, the better for spending extra time together.
If we can visit them next summer and take in the Bay area sights, as well as Yosemite National Park, we may actually trim that off the Epic Western Road Trip plans, which would save quite a lot of miles and days on that trip, possibly making it more feasible in 2023.
We would only have 5 to 10 days to work with for a summer 2018 trip but we could be flexible about which days of the week we travel to keep costs down. Our family have offered that we could stay with them for all or part of the visit, which would definitely help with costs, as well.
We are checking schedules to see if we can coordinate something with them next summer and then we will begin pricing out different itineraries to see if we can give it a go!
